Devastating news for telenovela fans. Mexican actress Karla
Alvarez was found dead yesterday at her house, and had allegedly died because
of a respiratory failure. The tragic death of Álvarez at the young age of 41
caused a big shock for the industry and the fans.
Álvarez was born in Mexico City in 1972. She was mostly
known for interpreting villains in telenovelas. Her latest production was “Que
Bonito Amor”, alongside Jorge Salinas and Danna Garcia, where she played
Irasema. After her breakthrough in
“Maria Mercedes”, she shined in many successful telenovelas, such as “Acapulco,
Cuerpo y Alma”, “Mi Querida Isabel”, “La Mentira”, “La Intrusa”, “Alma
Rebelde”, “Heridas de Amor” and “Las Tontas No Van Al Cielo”. She also
participated in the reality show “Big Brother VIP” in 2003.
She was married to actor Alexis Ayala from 1994 to 1996.
She was rumored to be battling an eating disorder, as well
as alcoholism. Earlier reports this year had rumors indicating that she had
problems with the production of the novela because of her addictions. A month
ago she was victim to a car robbery.
She will be greatly missed, may she rest in peace.
