SYNOPSIS

Based on an original story by Nobel Prize winner Jacinto Benavente, La Malquerida (The Bad Mistress) is a tale about uncontrollable obsession, forbidden love, and a toxic mother-daughter rivalry.

All seems well, except for one thing: young Acacia (Ariadne Díaz) cannot get over her father’s death, much less accept her mother’s new love. The loss of Acacia’s father is further complicated when her mother, Cristina (Victoria Ruffo), discovers their hacienda is in debt. Esteban (Christian Meier), a handsome and trusted employee, asks Cristina to accept his help in saving the estate. Esteban and Cristina’s working relationship becomes one of mutual admiration and, eventually, love. Unable to deal with the situation, Acacia leaves her home to live with her grandparents.

As time passes, Acacia develops into a beautiful young woman. Upon her return to the farm after several years, Esteban discovers he carries a secret passion for her, as well. Only true love can make the hacienda “El Sicomoro” bring harmony back into the hearts of Acacia and Cristina.

Produced by José Alberto Castro, this telenovela has a stellar cast led by Victoria Ruffo (“Corona de Lagrimas,” “Triunfo del Amor”), Ariadne Díaz (“La Mujer del Vendaval,” Llena de Amor”) Christian Meier (“Cosita Linda”), Claudia Alvarez (“Porque el Amor Manda”), Arturo Peniche (“Que Bonito Amor”), Mane de la Parra (“Corona de Lagrimas”), and Africa Zavala (“Abismo de pasión”) among others.
